Are you thinking of a great place to pop the question to your significant other. There are so many spots in the city to pop the question. Check out these 5 instagrammable proposal locations.

love lock wall at distillery district

The distillery district is a great place to walk around and the love wall is a great place to stroll by and get the love flowing. Have a lock ready in the opposite pocket from the ring. Bonus points for getting a lock in their favorite colour and engraved with your names. While you are at it get two locks made and keep one for the both of you.

view of city skyline from Polson Pier

Head down to Polson Pier and have the whole Toronto city skyline in the background. It’s a great spot to share your love of the city. If you want to do an activity together how about some skating at Nathan Philips square. Make sure to book a reservation time. Bonus this year it won’t be as crowded as other years.

street art by strange love coffee shop

If you just want to take a stroll in the city had to Spadina and china town there are some great murals around this area that will make a real Instagrammable moment and spot to propose to your partner. In addition to graffiti alley you could go for a coffee to celebrate your ‘strange Love’ at king and Spadina and propose against the mural on their outside wall.  Then pick up some amazing chocolates at Soma chocolates just around the corner.

mural on side of building woman in mask with red rose
This trio of artists—Rowell Soller, Flips and Kreecha created this piece. They used greyscale to highlight the current global mood, and painted a masked woman, who is meant to represent mother nature or an artist, using a paintbrush to bring a rose back to its former glory.

Or head to this new black and white mural that was created in honour of front line workers.

If you want to wait till the weather is warmer to propose there will be a new romantic stop coming to Toronto. The Love Park will lie at the bottom of York Street where the former Gardiner Expressway off ramp used to be. The focal point of the park will be a large, shallow, heart-shaped pond which will be situated at the park’s centre while both existing and newly added trees will provide a green canopy to help to obscure the surrounding imposing buildings and the bustling city streets, making the setting more of an urban escape.

The “Love Park” proposal by Claude Cormier + Associés, Landscape Architects, was selected as the winning submission.

As a planner, of course I would want to take the proposal up a level. I would arrange to have an incognito professional photographer capturing the moment from afar but after the question has been popped, they will magically appear to offer to take a photo of you both.  They could also have a hidden recorder to capture your proposal and your partner’s response.  While you are out walking the city, I would be arranging a special dinner at your place with a local chef or catering from your favorite restaurant. It could be a romantic dinner for the two of you or a celebration of your engagement with everyone in your social bubble.
